I went with one of my friends a couple years ago, its bascially a BIG road trip, some stops are at just gathering spots, some are at drag strips, GM is usually there leading the way, year one is a big sponsor. You dont have to do the whole thing, you can do one city or two or the "long haulers" do the whole way, thats what we did.. its a lot of fun, you get to know the ppl pretty good, you get a lot of stuff in the baggies they give you. I would def reccomend taking the time off and attended, they dont take the interstate anywhere mainly due to cars cant do know 70-80 for any amount of time.. everything is legal, I know there was one guy in a chevelle when were leaving a walmart, there was a buncha ppl at the road and he just stopped, did a huge burnout for about 30 seconds in linelock mode and we went on about our buisness.. its fun, do it if you can

Yeah, some stuff I read on other boards said to plan on spending $1,000 for the "long haul". I'm not sleeping in the car though. They have a package you can buy but several people have said not to go that route.

hot rod power tour
i went on the 2007 tour from cleveland, ohio to little rock ark and had a blast. over 1500 cars and 2400 people made the "long haul" and i was one of them. you start from one town to another and drive on routes that they have listed on a direction sheet. the average miles per day is abut 225 to 275 depending on where the next stop is. they also give you stuff when you register and one includes a lunch ticket for at least one meal a day. i found the whole experience to be one big blast !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lee & I would like to go on one of these some day.
I'm not sure if he would have the time off from work but I will be off because I work for a school district now so we will be out of school by then.

Well, the Tour has been fun so far. The first day in Little Rock was really hot and humid though. I got a lot of freebies, mostly caps and posters. I met Nine-Ball from LS1TECH. He is one of the founders of the web site and has his Viper in the Nitto booth. There are tons of really nice cars and some really unusual ones. How about a shiney black Pacer with a small-block V8? Or a Wagon like they drove in National Lampoons Vacation but with an LS1?
Springfield was not as hot so that was better. The drive up was really nice. This morning we woke up to rain and that stayed with us into Kansas. The weather is really nice in Topeka though.
I am seeing how we have most of the f-bodies in Texas though. My car has gotten more attention and questions over the last 3 days than it has gotten in 2 years of shows in Dallas. I'm thinking why are these people so interested in my car! Nice change of pace though.Craig

Keep your eyes peeled for Callaway C8s for me! If you don't have a camera, do me the favor of noting the color, what level of SuperNatural engine they have (400, 435, 450, etc.), and if they have any other add-ons, like luxury interior leather, brembo brakes, etc.
I'm trying to track all those babies down to create a registry basically.

Sorry Brandon, there are no Callaway's on the Tour. The most "exotic" thing I have seen is a Ford GT. Big woop. Unless you want to count Jay Leno's Z06 that is highly modded and runs E85. It's mostly muscle cars but they are some of the most incredible muscle cars around.
It rained hard last night in Ames but cleared up for this mornings cruise. It was nice today and should be nice tomorrow. In the 70s! Mother Nature must like muscle cars. We have had to deal with some road closures but Hot Rod is good at scouting new routes and telling everyone about them.
I am expecting tomorrow's drive to be very scenic.Craig

That's too bad, from what I've heard, there is supposed to be a black C8 convertible in Arkansas. Or at least there was in 2004. Don't know what city though.
